La Cocina is a San Francisco based non-profit and business incubator designed to cultivate low-income food entrepreneurs, particularly women from under-represented and immigrant communities by providing a platform for motivated individuals to hone their skills, formalize their business, and successfully transition into the highly regulated and competitive food industry.
La Cocina (meaning “The Kitchen” in Spanish) was inspired by San Francisco’s Mission District, an ethnically diverse and economically vulnerable neighborhood. Food lies at the heart of San Francisco’s communities, which thrive in part due to the many small businesses that make the city an especially vibrant place to live and work. With the right resources and support from La Cocina, entrepreneurs can become economically self-sufficient and contribute to a vibrant economy doing what they love to do.
